“I have spent one week on Ibiza attending a Yin Yoga & Yoga Nidra course and I can highly recommend it. The teaching was inspiring and Melanie share her knowledge generously. She is a warm and caring teacher.” – Suzanne, Sweden

“I have just completed the Yin & Yoga Nidra course with Melanie and Jennie in Ibiza and it surpassed my expectations, a wealth of knowledge and a thorough, full programme has left me with renewed energy for teaching and in my own personal practice. Jennie’s experience, knowledge and passion (and boundless energy!) for what she does shines through and I am confident in taking my new skills out to my students and exploring these practices further.” – Kerry, United Kingdom

You will receive

Who for?

We recommend that you have done a 200 hour teacher training (any style) but this is not mandatory! If you haven’t: send us an email and let us know and we will look into what other experiences you have and we’ll give you extra support during the course.

The intention is to give you, as a teacher, more tools, to broaden your teaching skills as well as your target groups. Perhaps you have done a training in a dynamic yoga style and would like to add a softer pracrice to your teaching menu as well – to be able to offer more at studios and retreats?

We have a set structure in line with Yoga Alliance’s criteria, but on top of that we have a certain amount of hours that we can tailor for YOU – and as far as we know, this is quite unique: for you, as participants, to be able to take part in forming the course content!

We (Melanie and Jennie) have worked together for almost 10 years and have 45 years of teaching experience between us from teaching yoga and teacher trainings full time.

We have experienced a lot over the years – and what we keep coming back to is how important it is to be authentic, to find “your voice” as a teacher and to have the courage to be YOURSELF when you are teaching! Working as a yoga teacher is amazing – but it also takes a lot of energy – and can be very draining if you are not looking after yourself. (And it’s so easy to not give ourselves that time/attention/selfcare – so in the training we will also put emphasis on how to create space for your own health and practice: to stay balanced and mentally strong!

We will cover

Theory and science behind the practice

  • The nervous system and the brain
  • Meridians and the energy system
  • Fascia
  • Updated research, the different aspects of yin yoga and how it is applicable to different body types and how personalities, and how movement patterns plays an important part.

Yin Assists

We will cover yin assists which are a beautiful way to connect with your students in a yin class. They include techniques from Thai Yoga Massage and Shiatsu to stimulate flows of energy and help student go to deeper levels of relaxation. These techniques are great to give and receive.

Teaching the poses

Our focus is very much on teaching the practice in a way that is inclusive and safe for everyone making this a nurturing and healing practice, a way to connect and go deep inside; a way to truly relax and rejuvenate. For each pose we will cover:

  • How to teach yin yoga poses
  • How to use props
  • Modifications for each pose

Sequencing & Class planning

  • Sequences for specific meridians, for specific yoga poses (eg for backbends, opening the hips, twists, forward bends), and a general all round class
  • How to plan a class, when and how much to talk, what to talk about and themes.

Contraindications and modifications

How to develop your classes for conditions such as pregnancy, injuries and hyper-mobility, making the practice accessible for individual bodies

Course material

Course Manual
As part of the course you get two full colour manuals included in the price: one on the theory and one giving details on the poses.
Please don’t share the manual with anyone. It is subject to copyright law.

We use the term Homework loosely here, there is a requirement of 25 hours of learning outside of the course, some will be written but mostly to establish a Yin Yoga Practice and to read a book (you’ll get several options) and write down your thoughts and questions.

No exams
There won’t be any exams. Rather, we are interested in seeing that you have gained an understanding and knowledge that you can apply to each individual student depending on their needs.  This course is intended to spark your interest in embarking on or continuing this fascinating journey.

General information about the retreat villa

Can Limon is situated in the countryside close to San Carlos, a rather small but very well-known village north of Santa Eulalia. San Carlos is the home to a rich cultural scene and the Ibiza beaches around San Carlos are divine. Imagine a world of crystal clear waters, sunshine bathed serenity and stunningly dramatic coastlines and you’re getting the idea. It’s a million metaphorical miles away from the hustle and bustle of Ibiza’s larger resorts but it is, however, close enough to Santa Eulalia to be within easy reach of a huge variety of restaurants, bars and shops, should you fancy a dip into the local cultural scene.

Surrounded by nature Can Limon offers a truly Ibizan experience. With lemon groves and the vivid red lands of the Ibizan countryside and distant views to the sea, this spacious private home offers the perfect opportunity to relax within a deeply peaceful environment.

We have a beautiful raised yoga deck nestled amongst the trees, with built in seating next to the platform for journalling and reflection time. The deck comfortably holds up to 20 yogis.
There is a second 60sqm outdoor yoga deck made from untreated nordic pine wood with a structure that is suitable to hang yoga hammocks. In case of bad weather (which happens even in Ibiza!), worry not. Although we don’t have a dedicated indoor studio our luxurious and cozy lounge can quickly be transformed into the most beautiful yoga space with plenty of room for all stretches and bends.
And even when it rains (or storms) our wall-to-wall glass fronted lounge, with fireplace and underfloor heating looks out over beautiful campo views, whilst you can remain cosy inside.

We always recommend that you have travel insurance and health insurance.
Note: if you are going through a medical treatment, or have done so recently, or if you are on medications prescribed for mental health issues, you must provide a Doctor’s certificate confirming your ability to travel and take part in the retreat/training/session. If this is the case, contact us prior to arranging a certificate and we will see what is required for you. Please note that you HAVE TO INFORM US before you pay the deposit. If you do not, we remain the right to cancel your booking and the deposit will be returned to your account. We are sorry if this sounds harsh but we insist: health issues should never be ignored.

We take your health and wellbeing seriously and we want to make sure we do everything we can to make the retreat a safe and welcoming space. As part of this, our protocol is:
– We’ll provide a self test upon arrival.
– If you develop symptoms during the retreat you’ll be asked to take a test again.
– If either test is positive it won’t be possible for you to attend the retreat and we won’t be able to give you a full refund you because we still have to pay the retreat centre but we’ll give you back what we can.
– If you’re attending a course we’ll give you a free space to attend one of our online courses.

Travel Insurance & Flights

  • Cancellations after 1 March 2022
0% refund will be given, and the deposit can’t be used for other retreats.

The deposit is non-refundable (even with a doctor’s certificate) – but if you have to cancel your plans: no worries: if you inform us by 28 February 2022 at the latest, you can use the deposit for other trainings/retreats/workshops with us and then there are two options for your deposit:

  • It can be used by a friend if they sign up through you and pay the full price for the retreat (no discounts).
  • It can be used by you for another retreat or course with any of us in the team.

If the retreat is cancelled by the organiser

If the advertised teacher is unable to attend for any reason we will provide an alternative and equally well-qualified teacher.

If we do need to cancel a trip or training for our OWN reasons, we will refund to you all deposits and payments.
We cannot however, no matter the reason for cancellation, compensate you for airfare, hotel bookings or other travel expenses.

In the unlikely event that the retreat or event is cancelled due to circumstances we can’t control, force majeure, weather, natural disaster, lockdown or political upheaval, we cannot guarantee a full refund but we’ll do our very best. For retreats, this is dependent on receiving a refund from the venue/tour operator we work with. Part of your payment goes to the retreat centre and part of your payment comes to us – and we can’t guarantee that the retreat centre will repay you but we promise that we’ll refund you 100 % of our portion.

Please keep in mind that Spain is heavily dependent on the tourism economy and they are very unlikely to lockdown again.

Please contact us if you’d like any clarification.
