Tired, even after resting? Maybe your brain finally feels safe enough to fully relax?
💕 How are you feeling? 💕
I’ve noticed something. A lot of people are feeling tired right now. Me too… Even though it’s summer and even with a bit more rest. Maybe you’re enjoying slower days. But if you’ve ever been through illness or burnout, feeling tired can be a bit unsettling, especially if you’re doing “everything right” by resting and taking care of yourself!
But here’s the thing: it’s completely normal to feel tired when we slow down. It doesn’t mean anything is wrong with you. In fact, it can be a good sign! The brain finally feels safe enough to rest! A nd that gives the brain a chance to rewire and change old patterns. Always being on guard, always being alert… that’s what drains us the most.
There’s nothing wrong with you. As your nervous system begins to slow down, it’s pretty common to feel more tired before the energy comes back.
In my newsletter from May, I mentioned that I had a lot to do. But I chose to still make space for rest. (Proud of myself!) To help manage it all, I made a list called “Things to do in June”, filled with everything that wasn’t urgent.
But then June came, and honestly… I was too tired. So I made a new list. “Things to do in July.” 🙂
Maybe it sounds like procrastination. But actually, it’s the opposite.
Rest gives clarity. What’s really important? Do that first. The rest can often wait.
I’ve stopped being “on it” all the time. I’m slower with replying to emails and I even felt guilty for not sending out a newsletter in June.
But then I thought, most people probably didn’t even notice.
And I think that’s quite common. We make it a big deal in our own minds… but other people are just busy living their own lives.
So instead of stressing about it, I’ve been leaning into a slower pace.
I just came back from the UK, where I had a couple of days off in London and then a lovely retreat with Melanie.
Now I’m enjoying baby cuddles with little Sebastian, and soon I’ll head back to India. I’m doing another Yoga & Neuroscience course online, mostly from my sofa in Goa, with the monsoon rains tapping on the windows. Very cosy. Very low productivity. High five. 🙂
And maybe you’re in a season like that too. One where your body is asking for slowness, not productivity. If that’s the case, I hope you give yourself permission to pause.
Not everything needs to be done right now. You matter more than your to-do lists.
